In my camera masterclasses we go through lots of photography tips and practical camera settings as well as a Q&A section at the end and there are always two questions I get asked about in class; both warrant blog posts of their own. They are:
How can I make it [taking photos] fun with the kids?
How can I get more of my shots in focus?
You can read my top tips on the first question in this blog post here.
In this blog I focus on focusing. (No pun intended). There are three main causes of poor image focus: the camera shaking, the subject moving or the camera missing focus. Read on for my top 10 tips to get rid of the blur.

Ever noticed how some photos have a beautiful blurry background, but not sure how to create it for yourself? Well here’s some tips on how to get that ‘bokeh (pronounced "bouquet") look in your family photos this Christmas.
Here's some hints and tips for your Christmas day photos, plus I’ve made a Pinterest board full of fun ideas of photos you might want to recreate on the day. Enjoy.
Last week I had a brainwave to make personalised gifts with my little boy for some of our nearest and dearest. I thought that perhaps this would be more meaningful and heartfelt and at the least we could make some 'stocking filler' style gifts… The whole thing got me thinking: There must be tonnes of creative gift ideas we could make together over the years… So here’s the outcome of my research so far… you can follow the HOW TOs for most of these ideas via my Pinterest Board, though many are self explanatory as they are. And of course the list would not be complete without a few photography related ideas too.
Over the years I have been fortunate enough to be invited by a number of local Baby Sensory Class Leaders to come and capture key moments in your baby's first year at some of their special classes dotted throughout the year. I love this, as it means I get to see some of 'my' babies all the way from bump and newborn photos through to turning one and graduating from Baby Sensory. Read on for some of my halloween delights from 2016.
It's early still, but the shops seem to be full of Christmas decorations and cards already (I thought they usually waited until Halloween was over?)
Anyway, since we've been a family of three, I've come to realise the value in personalised greeting cards, and thank you cards. Read on if you're feeling inspired to do something fun and crafty with the kids, particularly since half term is coming up next week. Would love to see what you make - feel free to post your photos in the comments below, or on my Facebook page.
...SO YOU CAN SIT BACK AND RELAX.
New for Christmas 2016. I am releasing a limited number of outdoors, fine art portraiture sessions to create the perfect (previously all-ellusive) present for the grandparents.
