LONDON VACATION PHOTOGRAPHY
for families visiting the city
Your London adventure, beautifully photographed
Visiting London is a big deal — particularly when you've travelled from overseas. Between seeing the sights, exploring the city and making memories together, finding time for family photographs can feel like another thing to fit into an already busy itinerary.
I'll help make it easy. From choosing the right locations and planning a route that works for your family, to finding the best times to avoid the busiest crowds and gently directing you throughout the session, I'll take care of the details.
The result isn't simply a collection of photographs in front of London's most famous landmarks. It's a set of natural, beautifully composed photographs that captures your family experiencing London together — photographs that will take you straight back to your trip for years to come.
A London photography experience, planned around you
Your photoshoot should fit into your holiday, not take over your day. I'll work with your sightseeing plans and the time you have available to create a route that makes sense for your itinerary.
We can build your session around the landmarks you most want to see, or I can suggest hidden gem locations, movie scene locations and combinations that work particularly well together. I'll consider the time of day, light, expected crowds and how much walking is realistic for your group.
If you're travelling with young children, grandparents or anyone with limited mobility, that's part of the planning too. We can create a route that gives everyone the chance to enjoy the experience without trying to squeeze too much into a single session.
Gentle direction, natural photographs
You don't need to know how to pose — that's my job.
I'll give you gentle direction throughout the session, helping everyone into flattering positions and thoughtfully composed photographs without keeping you standing still for endless formal portraits.
We'll keep moving, use the environment around us and give children opportunities to interact rather than simply asking them to smile at the camera. This helps the photographs feel natural while still being carefully crafted and beautifully composed.
Choose your London landmarks — or let me plan the route
You may already have a list of London landmarks you want to include, or you may have no idea where to start. Either is fine.
I'll help you work out which locations will give you the photographs you're looking for and how best to connect them within the time available.
As someone who lived in the heart of London for over 20 years, I can guide you from classic London landmarks to quieter corners and less obvious locations (and maybe even share some history and interesting facts along the way), so we can create a route that feels right for your family and your trip.
Looking for inspiration? I've created guides, below, to some of my favourite London photography routes, including options for families who want to see the iconic sights, families with younger children and those looking for something a little less touristy.
Photographs of the people, places and memories
Your London photographs should bring back more than what the city looked like. They should remind you of how your family felt being there together.
Alongside photographs of everyone together, I'll capture the smaller moments too — children discovering something new, siblings interacting, parents enjoying the experience and the little details that make your trip uniquely yours.
These are photographs you'll be able to look back on long after the holiday is over and remember not just where you were, but who you were together.
London landmarks and locations
Every family has a different idea of the perfect London photograph. From the city's most iconic landmarks to colourful neighbourhoods and lesser-known corners, I can help you choose a route that suits your interests, your itinerary and the amount of time and energy your family has available. Here are some starter ideas and popular routes…
-
Big Ben • Westminster Bridge • London Eye • Buckingham Palace
A classic introduction to London, designed for families who want to come away with photographs featuring several of the city's most recognisable landmarks without spending half a day on a photoshoot.
For families with a little more time, we can slow things down and incorporate more of central London's character alongside the major landmarks with the additions of St James’s Park, Trafalgar Square, The National Gallery, and Covent Garden.
The advantage of a longer session is that we don't have to simply move from landmark to landmark. We can pause for photographs in the parks, squares and streets between them, giving the final collection much more of a sense of your family's London adventure.
-
Notting Hill • Portobello Road • Colourful Streets • Westbourne Grove
For something less traditionally touristy, this route captures the colourful, lively side of West London.
Suggested route: Start around Notting Hill Gate, moving towards the pastel-coloured streets and Portobello Road, with time to explore the market atmosphere, colourful shopfronts and neighbourhood streets before finishing around Westbourne Grove.
This is a particularly good option for families who want their photographs to feel more like they've experienced London, rather than simply visited its landmarks. Notting Hill's pastel terraces, Portobello Road and market atmosphere are already well established as strong photography locations.
-
St Paul's Cathedral • Millennium Bridge • Bankside • Tower Bridge
This route is for families who love London's history and architecture, with a brilliant mix of old and new.
Suggested route: Begin around St Paul's Cathedral, crossing Millennium Bridge for photographs with the cathedral behind you and the Thames around you, then continue along the river towards Tower Bridge.
You can incorporate views towards the Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe and the City skyline along the way, before finishing with the unmistakable Tower Bridge.
-
Brick Lane • Shoreditch • Street Art • Markets & Independent Shops
For families looking for something a little different, this route explores the more colourful, creative and urban side of London.
Suggested route: Start around Brick Lane, using the surrounding streets and side roads to find colourful shopfronts, street art, murals and market scenes, then continue towards Shoreditch for more urban architecture and independent shops.
This route would be particularly good for families with older children or teenagers who might enjoy something less traditional — and it gives you a very different visual style from Westminster or Buckingham Palace.
-
Covent Garden • Leicester Square • Piccadilly Circus • Regent Street • Carnaby Street • Liberty • Hamleys
If shopping, colourful streets and the buzz of central London are more your family's style, this route brings together some of the West End's most recognisable spots. From the bright lights of Piccadilly Circus and the theatres of Leicester Square to the elegant architecture of Regent Street, colourful Carnaby and the characterful streets around Covent Garden, there's plenty of variety in a relatively compact area. And for younger children, we can even weave in a little Hamleys magic along the way.
Suggested route: Meander through Covent Garden on to the lights and crowds of Leicester Square & Piccadilly Circus. From there, stroll along the beautiful curve of Regent Street and it’s understated architectural delights, though side streets to Carnaby Street for the coolest shops on the block, up to Liberty’s iconic store front and then end at Hamleys’ entertaining window displays and alluring toys.

“Sara was absolutely fantastic. She asked what I was looking for and did her best to accommodate, giving helpful advice and suggestions. My son is autistic, and she was fantastic and understanding with him during the entire process. The pictures turned out beautifully. A wonderful, personable, and professional photographer. I look forward to booking with you again.”
