LONDON VACATION PHOTOGRAPHY
for families visiting the city

Your London adventure, beautifully photographed

Visiting London is a big deal — particularly when you've travelled from overseas. Between seeing the sights, exploring the city and making memories together, finding time for family photographs can feel like another thing to fit into an already busy itinerary.

I'll help make it easy. From choosing the right locations and planning a route that works for your family, to finding the best times to avoid the busiest crowds, gently directing you throughout the session, and even helping with outfit planning - I'll take care of the details.

The result isn't simply a collection of photographs in front of London's most famous landmarks. It's a set of natural, beautifully composed photographs that captures your family experiencing London together — photographs that will take you straight back to your trip for years to come.

A London photography experience, planned around you

Your photoshoot should fit into your holiday, not take over your day. I'll work with your sightseeing plans and the time you have available to create a route that makes sense for your itinerary.

We can build your session around the landmarks you most want to see, or I can suggest hidden gem locations, movie scene locations and combinations that work particularly well together. I'll consider the time of day, light, expected crowds and how much walking is realistic for your group.

If you're travelling with young children, grandparents or anyone with limited mobility, that's part of the planning too. We can create a route that gives everyone the chance to enjoy the experience without trying to squeeze too much into a single session.

Gentle direction, natural photographs

You don't need to know how to pose — that's my job.

I'll give you gentle direction throughout the session, helping everyone into flattering positions and thoughtfully composed photographs without keeping you standing still for endless formal portraits.

We'll keep moving, using the environment around us to give the children opportunities for natural interaction too, so you get some free-style moments as well. This helps the photographs feel natural while still being carefully crafted and beautifully composed.

Choose your London landmarks — or let me plan the route

You may already have a list of London landmarks you want to include, or you may have no idea where to start. Either is fine.

I'll help you work out which locations will give you the photographs you're looking for and how best to connect them within the time available.

As someone who lived in the heart of London for over 20 years, I can guide you from classic London landmarks to quieter corners and less obvious locations (and maybe even share some history and interesting facts along the way), so we can create a route that feels right for your family and your trip.

Looking for inspiration? I've created guides, below, to some of my favourite London photography routes, including options for families who want to see the iconic sights, families with younger children and those looking for something a little less touristy.

Photographs of the people, places and memories

Your London photographs should bring back more than what the city looked like. They should remind you of how your family felt being there together.

Alongside photographs of everyone together, I'll capture the smaller moments too — children discovering something new, siblings interacting, parents enjoying the experience and the little details that make your trip uniquely yours.

These are photographs you'll be able to look back on long after the holiday is over and remember not just where you were, but who you were together.

London landmarks & locations

Every family has a different idea of the perfect London photograph. From the city's most iconic landmarks to colourful neighbourhoods and lesser-known corners, I can help you choose a route that suits your interests, your itinerary and the amount of time and energy your family has available. Here are some starter ideas and popular routes…

London vacation photoshoot pricing

A London vacation shoot is photographed a little differently to a standard family session, which means you'll typically receive a larger collection of photographs.

With a standard family shoot, I plan in advance for most of the photos we capture — perhaps bringing everyone together in a certain combination or positioning you in a particular way. I'll then carefully select the strongest photograph from each moment: the one with the best expressions, composition and overall feel. This creates a beautifully curated gallery where every image has been deliberately chosen.

A London vacation shoot still includes that same considered approach to creating your portraits. The difference is that London itself becomes part of the story, so we'll also photograph you as you explore, walk between locations and enjoy the experience together. Some of these moments may naturally result in a small sequence of photographs that work beautifully together, rather than there being one single image that tells the whole story.

I'll also use different lenses throughout the shoot depending on what we're photographing. For more intimate family portraits, I tend to use the longer focal lengths I often use during my standard family sessions, creating the softer backgrounds and beautiful separation from the surroundings that you're familiar with from my work. When we're photographing alongside an iconic London landmark, I'll also use a wider lens, allowing more of the architecture and surroundings to remain visible and making the location an important part of the photograph.

This wider perspective can also give some images a more documentary feel — capturing your family within the atmosphere and scale of London — while still being thoughtfully composed and photographed with the same attention to light, expression and detail as ever.

The result is a collection that brings together the best of both approaches: beautifully crafted family portraits, alongside photographs that capture the people, places and little moments that made your time in London memorable. Rather than simply documenting what happened, I'll still be making careful decisions throughout about composition, perspective, light and which photographs ultimately belong in your finished gallery.

A note on group size and accessibility: These sessions are ideal for families of up to 2 adults and 3 children. If you have a larger group, a different family combination, limited mobility or very young babies, please just ask when enquiring. I’m often able to accommodate different requirements; we may tailor the route, locations or way we photograph your group to make sure the session works well for everyone.

“Sara was absolutely fantastic. She asked what I was looking for and did her best to accommodate, giving helpful advice and suggestions. My son is autistic, and she was fantastic and understanding with him during the entire process. The pictures turned out beautifully. A wonderful, personable, and professional photographer. I look forward to booking with you again.”
