BABY & FAMILY STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHY

Studio photography is perfect for capturing family groupings and individual portraits in a controlled environment so we can focus on getting natural looking images using your choice of backdrop and simple, timeless props. This uncluttered look and feel means that you can beautifully display a selection of your images in one frame - and everything sits together comfortably, without any colour or stylistic clashes. In fact, this is exactly what most of my families choose to do - either picking a few separate wall-art pieces that are designed to be hung together on a wall at home, or picking one larger frame with multiple images within it.

I carefully finesse my lighting when you arrive at my studio, so that the lighting technique I pick, emphasises your most beautiful features and flatters you perfectly. My style is to lightly direct the shoot, giving helpful advice on things like where to place your hands and feet etc. so that you feel confident that what I capture is a well-composed yet still unforced, comfortable-looking portrait. This approach means that the standard 45 min session is usually long enough to capture a gallery of around 20 different portraits, rather than leaving a ‘good shot’ to chance or sessions taking much longer and the kids getting over-tired.

Key baby stages for studio photography are around four months when baby is comfortable doing tummy time and can support their own head, around 6 months when they are sitting unsupported (but before they are crawling), once they are crawling and then around their first birthday when we can also do a birthday themed cakesmash shoot. Family shoots with older children and extended families also work well in the studio environment. In fact, I’ve had quite a few much older children, organise portrait sessions with their siblings as a surprise to their parents for anniversaries and special birthdays.

Studio sessions take place throughout the week in my purpose-designed family photography studio in East London. I also offer weekend sessions on one weekend date a month, except for the run up to Christmas when I offer more weekend studio shoot dates. These pre-Christmas sessions book out well in advance, so early booking is strongly recommended. After your session, I review all the images taken, select a shortlist of around 20 of the best and most varied images, which I will then edit and invite you to view at your gallery ordering and viewing session a couple of weeks later at the studio. At this session you can pick which images you would like to purchase and keep and what format you would like your images in. Most families spend around £750-£1100 on their digital images and wall art/album; prices start from £335.
